The Czech national team finished joint training in Portugal

A large part of the Czech national MTBO team ends today a ten-day preparatory map camp in Portugal. The World Championship on home soil is a great motivation for everyone to fight for medals, so map preparation is one of the priorities of this year's joint events.

Vojtěch Stránský and Vojtěch Ludvík won the two opening races on the long track and in the sprint. By combining the results of all representatives, the Czechs won the team competition.

A week of training in the hilly terrains of central Portugal, which gave nothing free to anyone, was a great preparation for the final race weekend in Spain. In the results of the middle, sprint and long tracks, the Czechs were once again seen in the leading positions.

The best ones from the Czech MTBO team will return to Portugal in just 6 weeks, the European Championship is being held in the south near the city of Loulé. The team for the EC will be smaller than in previous years. However, the championship in Jičín will offer even more starting places for the Czech representatives. Up to nine men and eight women can start on all distances, if we use special positions for competitors from the U23 category, and Kryštof Bogar will start to defend his two titles from Sweden 2022.

But the Czech top is not only Bogar. Last season, Martina Tichovská, Vojtěch Ludvík, Jan Hašek, Vojtěch Stránský, Jiří Hradil and Martin Kanta were also on the podium in the WC, ME and SP races, so there is much to follow.

Of course, foreign competitors also have the motivation to fight for medals. You can hear what they think about the championship in Jičín and how they see their chances on the WMTBOC 2023 Instagram account.
